My literate life is composed of slight reading and quite a lot of writing. I find it really challenging to find things to read that really grab my attention and keep me interested the whole way through. However, I've had a pretty good track record with romance novels and suspenseful stories. I really like unpredictable books that keep you intrigued and wanting more. As far as writing is concerned, I really enjoy writing poetry. I really respect those poets who truly put feeling and meaning into their poems. I, on the other hand, write more of Dr. Seuss type rhymes. I write little cheesy poems for just about every occasion for my family and friends and have been told I should write for Hallmark. I'm a little bit of a musician so I'm starting to put my poetry into lyrical form and start writing some songs. I really enjoy literature when it's a subject matter that really catches my eye.
I think Lunsford's article is a little intimidating as a future teacher. I'm a little anxious as to how reading and writing will pan out for me as a teacher since I have my own particular way of going about it myself. I think it will be tricky to keep the "old school" process of minimal technology with our next generation. However, as someone who is really interested in the topic, I am fairly confident it will all work its way out.
